Constitution of the Brazil Club

Organization’s name: Brazil Club

 

Description: The Brazil Club is a primarily undergraduate organization at Yale College dedicated to all things Brazilian.

 

Statement of purpose: The purpose of the Brazil Club is to bring together and foster a community of students that are interested in Brazil.

 

Membership: Membership is open to all currently enrolled undergraduates in Yale College. While membership may be open to non Yale College students, undergraduates must always constitute the majority of the membership. Officer positions are limited to currently enrolled undergraduates. Executive board members not currently enrolled in Yale College are limited to an advisory role on the Brazil Club's board and may not make funding or programmatic decisions for the Brazil Club.

 

Elections: Every year, elections should take place for all of the board positions, beginning in the 2015-2016 academic year. Elections regulations are described on our website.

 

Duties and responsibilities of officers: There are five officers of the Brazil Club, the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Tech and Media Chair and Social Chair. The Vice-President replaces the President in case he/she is unable to perform his/her decision. The board must vote on any constitutional amendments. Changes to the constitution shall be communicated to the Club’s members and updated on the Club’s website as soon as they are approved.

 

Statement on how funds are used: Funds are used for the benefit of Brazil Club members. It is important to note that the Brazil Club is operated exclusively on a nonprofit basis.

 

Dissolution clause: In the event that the Brazil Club should dissolve, any remaining assets shall be distributed to the Spanish and Portuguese Department at Yale University.
